Professor Dr . Htay Htay Tin

Rector of University of Medical Technology ,Yangon

          Professor Htay Htay Tin is working as Rector, University of Medical Technology, Yangon and National Consultant for Technical & Quality Promotion of Biomedical Laboratories, Myanmar up to date.She was born in 1962 in Yangon and obtained M.B.,B.S, M.Med.Sc ( Pathology ) and Ph.D degrees from Institute of Medicine (1)&(2), Yangon. Then, she achieved her Post-doctoral courses in Hematopathology in 2012. She is a WHO fellow in the areas of Hematopathology and Blood Transfusion Services.

          She started her government service life in 1989 as Assistant Surgeon in Teaching General Hospitals and became Consultant Pathologist in 1998. She was promoted to Senior Consultant Pathologist in 2004 and then assigned as Associate Professor of Department of Pathology in University of Medicine (1) in 2007. In 2013, she was promoted to Professor of Department of Pathology, University of Medicine (2) Yangon and transferred to National Health Laboratory under Department of Medical Service as Director of laboratory services.  Simultaneously, she is assigned to take dual responsibilities of Professor of Department of Public Health Laboratory in University of Public Health, Yangonunder Department of Human Resources for Health from 2013 to 2019.

         Before the current position, she wasassigned as Deputy Director General (Laboratory Services), National Health Laboratory in 2016 and served until 2021. She took the leading role of clinical and public health laboratory services in setting areas of regional public health molecular laboratories. Currently, she is serving as National Laboratory Focal in ASEAN Health Cluster (2) and leading professional in Regional Public Health Laboratory Network.

        Formerly, she wasa President of Myanmar Society of Pathology, Myanmar Medical Association.She achieved several international publications in Journals of Blood transfusion, Parasitology, Virology and Infectious diseases.
